Good morning Lake Members,
The website experienced an outside bot attack on our Comments section. The problem is now fixed and there are safeguards in place. Hopefully that clears up any further Comments problems.
I apologize to the members that had deleted posts and comments. If anyone needs to post again, please do so. I’ve opened up the posts again and they seem to be working well. The same with comments. I’m testing the process of moderating comments to catch any spam coming in. If you submit a comment, don’t be concerned it is isn’t visible immediately. I will approve them during the current day. I plan to remove the moderation after our safeguards prove that they are working well.
Some emails went out to people that had commented on past posts. These emails included the word “Trackback” in them. Please delete them from your email account and be sure to empty the trash after moving them. Do not click on any links in the emails. We did not send these and they are not to be trusted.
Our hosting agent, HostGator, was very helpful. Also, Gmail caught on that the emails were spam and failed to send over 1500 emails. We were fortunate they stopped them. Thank you all for your patience and the for the words of support that I received. This was the worst attack that I have experienced, and I hope the last!
