We have reopened the posting for the website and are attaching a letter broadly circulated in hard copy in our mailboxes. The document was removed from the Talahi Island website for the following reasons:This document was tendered to Bill Oakley, Board President at his home unannounced at 6pm Monday night. By that night, it was sent to be posted on our website. As anyone can see, it is a complicated document full of assertions, threats and and requests. It is addressed to the board. Before the post the board had no time to meet, no time to reach legal counsel and no time to craft any response. I was also distributed in hard copy and passed by hand to property owners. When responses to any post are prepared, they are shared with all board members for feedback and input. The fact that such a document was broadly distributed without any opportunity for proper consideration puts the board at a distinct disadvantage. We will not respond further, entertain discussion beyond the board or take any action beyond the private response we made to one of the presenters until we are properly prepared so to do.The Talahi Lake Property Owners Association

Good Morning Bill. We are responding as a portion of the lake owners who issued and signed the Cease and Desist.
The Cease and Desist is not a threat. It raises real legal issues and risks created by the course the board has chosen. Identifying potential legal consequences is notice, not intimidation, and its purpose was to stop further action and avoid litigation, not to create it.
Josh and Mark met with you calmly and respectfully to explain—clearly and in good faith—why the notice was submitted. Taking the time to sit down and explain our concerns directly was a thoughtful and deliberate effort to prevent escalation. If the intent were to cause chaos, injunctions would already have been filed.
The document was shared with owners because the matters raised directly affect individual property rights. Transparency with affected owners is appropriate.
What is concerning is that, following delivery of the notice, owners attempting to explain why it was submitted were silenced, posts were deleted, alerts were disabled, and the website—funded by lake owner dues—was then used to post board messaging encouraging continued voting. That selective use of the website is precisely one of the issues raised in the Cease and Desist. Continuing those actions after notice was provided only reinforces the concerns.
Finally, as stated in the Cease and Desist, lake owner funds may not be used to pursue legal action against individual owners where no authority exists. The signatories are funding their legal review privately. The board is expected to do the same. Using lake funds for this purpose will raise additional legal issues.
The Cease and Desist was issued to pause actions, allow proper review, and avoid court involvement. That remains the goal. We are not threatening, we are opposing you and asking you pause.
Abigail
